Thirlmere's Shore--Castle Rock Round

It was raining when we left Crown Rigg but cleared within minutes.

However low cloud showers and bursts of sunshine were the order of the day.It is hot and humid.

The walk took us north along the shoreline thru woodland until we came to the dam.

Victorian engineering at its best..Let us not forget however this dam destroyed two villages

We headed on towards Castle Rock over the main road until we met the Leat which collects water from the fells and eventually flows into Thirlmere.

Under Castle Rock bear right along the side of Stybarrow Dodd until we meet the main path from Helvellyn. This takes us back to the car park
